Microdermabrasion is a wonderful solution for a number of skin concerns. The process of polishing the skin's surface allows for fresh, healthy skin to be revealed, and can help address skin tone color issues. Microdermabrasion improves dull or uneven skin color, relieves clogged pores/blackheads, refines the appearance of fine lines and large pores, and softens roughness or thickened patches of dead skin.
The results are visible after one treatment and will continue with subsequent treatments. This procedure is typically performed on the face, however, it is also effective on the back and decollate areas to help reduce the effects of acne and sun damage. We customize our treatments to your skin type, and after consultation, we can combine Microdermabrasion with a light chemical glycolic acid peel or a multitude of light devices or lasers to increase the rejuvenating effects.
Chemical peels improve and smooth the texture of the skin by removing the damaged outer layers, loosening dead cells from the skin's surface and providing a smoother texture and a more radiant, healthy glow. The appearance of fine lines and wrinkles (caused from factors such as age, sun damage, and smoking) are reduced. Peels help fade the skin's imperfections and brown spots. They are effectively applied on the face, back, and decollate areas to assist in clearing acne and blemishes. We customize the strength and type of peels to suit your specialized skin care needs. Many of our peels are conducted by licensed medical aestheticians and technicians under the supervision of M. Christine Lee, M.D. Physician-strength peels are performed by Dr. Lee.
Laser and light-based therapies reach the deeper layers of skin without harming the skin's surface. These treatments impact the oil (sebaceous) glands, causing them to produce less oil and target the bacterium that causes acne inflammation. These therapies can also improve skin texture and lessen the appearance of scars and other imperfections.
Dr. Lee offers several types of laser and light therapies.
Blue light therapy (Blu-U). Exposing the skin to a low-intensity blue light source is believed to destroy the bacteria that causes some forms of acne. This is a painless procedure is done through a series of sessions. Dr. Lee also offers a newer type of light therapy that includes a combination of blue and red light which is more effective than blue light alone.
Pulsed light and heat energy therapy (IPL). Together, pulsed light and heat energy is thought to destroy bacteria caused acne and shrink sebaceous glands, decreasing oil production. This treatment can also help with fading redness and darker pigmented spots.
Photodynamic Therapy (PDT). This therapy combines topical medications and light-based therapies. During treatment, a photosensitizing agent (Levulan), is applied to your skin to enhance the effects of light therapy. This is followed by blue, red, pulsed light or another type of light therapy.
Our office also provides many aesthetician services including facials and extractions.
