Dr. Lee is UCSF fellowship trained in all the most advanced cosmetic and laser surgical procedures. Listed below are just some of the procedures that Dr. Lee offers her patients.

NON-INVASIVE LASER REJUVENATION - THE LASERLITE FACIAL

Dr. M. Christine Lee is a leading pioneer of non-invasive, non-ablative, no downtime laser rejuvenation of the skin. Dr. Lee is the inventor of the dual KTP & Nd:YAG combination procedure - The LaserLite Facial! She published the first clinical studies and went on to travel the globe training physicians in this exciting and effective procedure. The dual laser procedure is highly effective for treating age and sun spots, visible pigmentation problems, rosacea, facial veins, and acne. The laser treatments also promote collagen stimulation and skin toning and tightening of light wrinkles and fine lines. More effective than IPL (intense pulsed light--also known as “Fotofacial”) or pulsed dye laser (PDL) treatments, the LaserLite Facial can be used to treat any part of the body - neck, chest, hands, etc.  Dr. Lee worked with the engineers at Laserscope in the development of the Gemini laser (dual KTP & Nd:YAG lasers).  The Gemini laser has become the gold standard in the industry for the treatment of vascular and pigmented lesions.

INTENSE PULSED LIGHT (IPL) OR PHOTOFACIAL

Dr. Lee has many different IPL devices from the leading companies available to help make the skin look healthier and younger via a process called photorejuvenation. This is the process of removing sun damage such as freckling, age spots, red and brown discolorations, and broken blood vessels on the face, neck, chest, or any part of the body.  Superior results can be achieved by combining IPL treatments with various lasers.

NONABLATIVE LASERS

Dr. Lee has a wide array of nonablative lasers that when used on the face or body stimulates collagen production through a process called collagen remodeling. A person’s natural collagen starts to thin out gradually over time due to aging processes and is accelerated greatly by long term sun exposure.  Many noninvasive lasers help to stimulate the skin’s own ability to form new collagen which promotes improved texture, tone and firming of the skin.  Regular treatments with these lasers help to slow down the aging process.  Combined with either IPL or LaserLite Facial, the end results are removal of sun damage along with younger, healthier and more radiant skin.

FACE BY THERMAGE, EYES BY THERMAGE, BODY BY THERMAGE

Dr. Lee was one of the early adopters and pioneers of the FDA approved revolutionary noninvasive radiofrequency skin tightening procedures by Thermage. Deep dermal heating created by specially developed and proprietary monopolar radiofrequency tips cause contraction and tightening of the skin and deep tissue and muscles of the face and body which result in tighter, firmer, more youthful skin. The new treatment tips are much less painful than the earlier tips. The new “Eyes by Thermage” tips were recently approved by the FDA for treatment of the upper eyelids and Dr. Lee was one of the first physicians in the U.S. to receive approval to use these tips.  Dr. Lee has performed clinical studies for Thermage and has presented these studies at academic and scientific conferences.

TITAN XL BY CUTERA

Dr. Lee performed clinical studies for Cutera using the Titan 1100-1800nm Infrared device to deep dermal heating and tightening of the skin.  It is effective for skin tightening on the face and body.  She has presented these studies at academic and scientific conferences, and has written a research paper summarizing the study for the company.

CO2 (CARBON DIOXIDE) LASER RESURFACING

Laser resurfacing is used to remove areas of damaged or wrinkled skin, layer by layer. The procedure is most commonly used to minimize the appearance of fine lines, especially around the mouth and the eyes, and deep wrinkles. However, it is also effective in treating facial scars or areas of uneven pigmentation. Laser resurfacing may be performed on the whole face or in specific regions. Often, the procedure is done in conjunction with another cosmetic operation, such as eyelid surgery (blepharoplasty). Laser resurfacing is performed using a beam of laser energy which vaporizes the upper layers of damaged skin at specific and controlled levels of penetration. Laser resurfacing offers a number of advantages over other resurfacing methods: precision, little (if any) bleeding and less post-operative discomfort. First, the outer layers of damaged skin are stripped away. Then, as new cells form during the healing process, a smoother, tighter, younger-looking skin surface appears.

ERBIUM LASER RESURFACING

A “Lighter” version of resurfacing is available through Erbium Laser Resurfacing. The downtime for Erbium resurfacing is much less than for CO2, making it a more attractive option for many people. Multiple treatments may be necessary for optimal results.

FRACTIONAL CO2

DeepFX & ActiveFX - Fractional Resurfacing

Deep FX, the latest in fractional treatment offered by Dr. Lee., joins the already popular ActiveFX as a powerful way to treat wrinkles, scars, skin tone and texture in as few as one or two treatments with minimum downtime.

ActiveFX targets the epidermal and papillary dermal layers of the skin and is ideal for treating conditions that manifest in the upper layers of the skin, including fine lines, dyschromia, and textural irregularities. DeepFX targets the deep dermal layers of the skin, and provides exceptional results on deep wrinkles, scars, and peri-oral rhytids.

FRACTIONAL RESURFACING

Dr. Lee has multple devices available to perform fractional laser treatments. Using a pixelated scanner to deliver “microspots” of thermal energy in a process called fractional photothermolysis.  These are little spots of injury to the skin with interspersed undamaged skin areas. This is a fraction of the injury produced by traditional resurfacing but also results in a fraction of the results.
